Self-Care

Self-Care is so important. It is meeting our own needs.
We must care for of ourselves first
in order to meet the needs of those we love.

Support

Make a list of support people. Therapist, clergy, prayer partners, positive and supportive friends or family. Include phone numbers.

Set Boundaries

Don't take on more then you can handle. Learn how to say "no" when you need to.

Health

Taking care of our health means, keeping our doctor and counseling appointments and working together to become whole again. It means taking in the essential nourishment that our body needs to work properly in the best way that we are able. It means reaching out to healthcare providers and asking for help for both our emotional and physical wellness.

Rest

Try to get eight hours of sleep at night. Rest is ok in the afternoon too. Take a break. Try to limit the afternoon break between 30 minutes and 2 hours. Remember, it is ok to rest.

Grooming

Try to shower once a day. Even brushing your teeth and hair can be hard but these things are all part of self-care.

Self-time

Sometimes we just need a break to be by ourselves and take time to rest or play, whatever we need that day. Maybe it is time alone to read a few Bible verses, a book we enjoy, a hobby, a walk. Whatever that need is at the time, take it if possible. Work it into your schedule. You are important. Spend time with yourself, care for yourself, love yourself.
